A Poem: “Forever Running”

Poems are small little gems from my soul that really help me capitulate all my emotions. This Valentines Day, I just felt the urge to encourage and empower all women – regardless if they are single, taken, or married. So enjoy this poem that was written for anyone out there who needs a little extra love!

Forever Running

If I could guess, I think you’re a runner.
This life is a race, and it never seems to stop.
Training never ends, and maybe you can’t seem to get past the coach.

You know, that inner coach? The one that yells and screams
that you can’t dream, because you’re not enough?
Cause it’s enough that you have to look perfect,
that you have to have this certain image
or have it all together.

You see, I always knew you were a runner.
But maybe it’s time you stopped running from fear
Or stopped competing with shame.
Maybe it’s time you stopped playing this game
Because you can only go so far before anxiety
starts catching up.

But if you’re gonna run, you might as well run.
Run towards the mark of the high calling,
not crawling to the finish line.
Finish lying to yourself
Fill your lungs with the abundant life
Exhaling defeat, inhaling freedom
Exhaling hate, inhaling self-love

There’s no greater race than this.
No better feeling than when the
wind of contentment hits your face
The smile that flickers
from the strength that comes from within

A phenomenal woman Maya Angelou said
Captivating, majestic, and strong – that’s you
Achieving the prize of purpose,
Winning a love everlasting,
Collapsing in a grace never-ending

Because there’s no prize more precious than you.
Gems and diamonds cannot outshine your light.
So when you adjust your sight on His delight,
You don’t fear what might, cause you see the power of His.

You are loved, phenomenal woman.
Wholeheartedly. Deeply. And true.
You may have been running from yourself,
But there’s no one more amazing than you.
