Last week, we spent time learning about the importance of having vision and creating systems known as habits. If you haven’t had a chance to check out last week’s post, I would encourage you to read that before reading this one. But if you’re already all caught up, check out this third tip on how to set up your year (and honestly your life) for success.

Learn to Delegate

Once you have clear vision for your life, and you’ve started to implement strategies and systems, you’ll get to a point where you are reaching your maximum capacity of what you can and cannot do. When you find yourself in this place, you might find yourself a little bit overextended, and it’s time to ask yourself how you can delegate your tasks to others.

The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:28, “be fruitful, and multiply and have dominion over this entire earth.” God has not only called us to be a part of the system He’s created, but He’s called us to rule over the systems.

So he doesn’t want you to just be out of debt. He wants you to be a loaner of money to others. Deuteronomy 28:12 says, “you’re the lender, not the borrower.”

He doesn’t want you to just be a culinary chef. He wants you to own the culinary school that helps cultivate other chefs. He doesn’t want you to just be an author. He wants you to own publishing companies that help other believers come to know Him through books.

This is the whole objective of advancing the Kingdom of God forward. God put each of us here on this earth for a purpose and we all have a part in spreading the gospel and making other followers of Christ. How that happens is based on what you are called to do, but let’s break this down a little bit more.

Be Fruitful

Looking at Genesis 1:28, it says “to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion on Earth.” Fruitfulness relates to producing fruit or in practical terms, achieving goal-oriented results. It involves discovering the gifts that God has given you and leveraging those gifts to produce favorable results.

For example, an author produces fruit by publishing books. A real estate agent produces fruit by selling homes. A business owner produces fruit by hitting a certain amount of revenue. A content creator or influencer produces fruit by having multiple followers.

The point is to find out what gift God has put on the inside of you, and then put that gift to work to produce good fruit in your life. If you’re not producing good fruit, then something is out of alignment and it’s time to take a personal assessment of why that is.

John 15:4 says “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; It must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

If we’re not producing fruit in our life, it may be because we’re not abiding in God and what He’s telling us to do. So if you find yourself in this place, do not worry. That’s the beauty of Jesus.

If we seek Him with all of our hearts, His Word says that we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). He says if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).

Multiply

Once you are being fruitful, the second step is to multiply so that you can be more fruitful. This involves figuring out a way to create more “you’s,” and in practical terms, this is where you implement systems and habits.

It requires you to ask yourself how you can delegate what you’re doing to other people so that it leaves you with more time to create, build, and go after the things that God has called you to do.

If we take those same examples that I mentioned before, an author multiplies by perhaps starting a publishing company or hiring ghost writers to help them publish more books. A real estate agent can multiply by starting a real estate agency or hiring an assistant to help them get more leads.

For a parent, this looks like their kids having more children and those children having their own children, and creating a family legacy. As a business owner, this might look like partnering with other business owners so they can bring more money to the business. For a content creator or influencer, this may look like creating a program or a course to help create more influencers.

Have Dominion

When you are fruitful and multiplying your fruitfulness by reproducing yourself in the earth, this leads to dominion, which allows you to rule and dominate in your particular industry of influence.

When I think about dominion, a really popular example I always love to share is Chip and Joanna Gaines. Shout out to Fixer Upper! They originally started their empire by flipping houses, but now, their company has expanded to other industries.

Not only are they flipping houses, but they’re also tapping into the hotel industry. They have their own television network, Magnolia Market at the Silos, Magnolia Magazine, their own line at Target, and so much more. They are dominating!

Another recent example I love is Studio McGee. If you watch the popular show on Netflix, Dream Home Makeover, Shea shares in season 1 how they started their business with only a few design projects and even sold their house to help pay the bills.

They started small, they even struggled, but they produced fruit. They were faithful with what they had. They designed and renovated homes and one thing led to another to where they now have a whole agency of 100+ employees, allowing them more time to do what they love while also running a large business. They now have their own line in Target and a Netflix show!

Final Encouragement

At the end of the day, God has so many plans for your life. He wants you to be like Chip and Joanna Gaines, and like Studio McGee. He wants you to be successful, to prosper, to be fruitful, to multiply, and to have dominion over this earth.

James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above,” so if you can think it, God wants you to have it. But if you are looking to live God’s best for your life and experience the fullness of His promises, it starts by having clear vision, creating systems, and delegating.
